When it comes to the blistering cold temperatures and enormous blankets of snow found prominently during the winter months on Central Michigan’s campus, each and every student has a different way of coping with the extreme weather. For many, the weather provides nothing but chaos, as the conditions complicate vehicular and pedestrian travel. Others, however, find the climate to be of no problem whatsoever, and simply go on about their routine unbothered. In this project, three CMU students—Engram Marcum, Mike Earehart, and Dezmond Earl, were interviewed to provide their own take on how to go about handling the winter weather on CMU’s campus. And in the end, each subject offered a unique experience and a different opinion on the issue.

Since arriving at Central Michigan University three years ago, I've maintained a strong passion for writing. Once a wide-eyed freshman with so little knowledge and so much room for growth, I now look back at my journey as a student and can proudly say that I've learned from all my previous mistakes. As a now 24-year-old senior at CMU, I've come to notice that my views on the journalism field and the world itself have broadened significantly since my arrival. While I held a major in journalism and a minor in broadcasting since 2015, my respect and admiration for writing in journal has grown substantially, as the guidance of my professors along with my own personal experiences have lead to a newfound appreciation for journalism and a better understanding of its importance to the world. As for my upbringing, I was born in Detroit, MI, on November 11, 1993, and spent most of my childhood in Farmington Hills. In 2014, I earned my one-year broadcasting degree from Specs Howard School of Media Arts, a certificate which has continued to serve me well, as the knowledge I gained of photography, production, broadcast writing, and cinematography remains strong to this day. My passions apart from journalism include political activism, watching sports, history and geography, and volunteering my time to help those in need. In terms of what I plan to do after graduating, my goal is to pursue a career in political activism where I can utilize my on-camera skills (photographic and cinematographic) as obtained during my time at Specs while also making the most of my writing abilities, which I've honed during my years at CMU. I hope my journalistic skills can be utilized to bring the very truths to the public that it has far been deprived of. My life goal is to end world poverty through a political revolution, one of which I hope I can be the leader. But a revolution to help change the world must begin with an education of the people, and my hope is that I can help kindle such a movement by simply providing the public with the information it's long been deprived of.
